Keratoconus Detection

Keratoconus Cone Location Magnitude Index

Proper diagnosis of keratoconus is critical in many ways. Obviously patient health is of primary concern. But so is practice health. The consequences of a missed (or late) diagnosis can be harmful to your practice without timely management or refractive surgery resulting in unforeseen results.

The Scout’s Keratoconus Cone Location Software locates the steepest 2 mm zone in the central 8 mm of the cornea. The area corrected average of the points outside of the circle is subtracted from the area corrected average of the points inside of the circle. The procedure is repeated for a 2mm zone 180 degrees away and results are compared to determine if the steep area represents a cone. If so, the center of the cone is marked with magnitude.
